Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) has introduced legislation in the House of Representatives to designate a Historic Site on the grounds that were formerly internment camps during World War II for nearly 30,000 Americans of Japanese descent. In addition to designating the location a Historic Site, the bill requires the National Park Service to consult with Modoc County, the City of Tulelake, and the adjacent Tulelake Airport when planning management of the Historic Site.
