(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa issued the following statement after he, Congressman Bob Gibbs (OH-07), and Congressman Ted Budd (NC-13) introduced H.R. 8815, the Election Certainty Act, a bill that prioritizes election security by fortifying ballots and putting safeguards around the ballot collecting process. The bill comes as a response to widespread distrust of voting systems among many Americans. Recent polls continue to show that everyday Americans are losing trust in the electoral system, especially mailed ballots, and need to see that elections are fair and transparent. To address those concerns, this bill institutes common sense requirements that create a standard for mail in ballots.

(Chico, CA) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded $13.3 million to the City of Chico to make improvements to Cohasset Road needed to better access the Chico Municipal airport and three major job centers. This grant is expected to create 620 jobs, retain 200 jobs, and spur $26 million in economic activity.

(Sacramento, CA) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa issued the following statement after Governor Gavin Newsom issued a 10 PM – 5AM forced curfew for counties in which the Governor says may have a “widespread” COVID-19 outbreak. Under the Governor’s orders, in the “purple” designated counties, all family gatherings, including Thanksgiving, traveling, and evening activities that are outside of your home will be banned.

(Siskiyou County, CA) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa issued the following statement after California Governor Gavin Newson, Oregon Governor Kate Brown, Karuk and Yurok Tribal Leaders, and PacifiCorp announced that they will be moving forward with the removal of four Klamath River Dams. In their new agreement, California and Oregon will partner with the Klamath River Renewal Corporation (KRRC) to assume liability for the dam removal project, transferring the license to operate the dams from PacifiCorp. This comes after a July announcement from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) that KRRC would not be able to be a sole licensee on the project because it “has limited finances and no experience with hydropower dam operation or dam removal.”

Earlier this month, Governor Newsom announced that his administration would be closing eight fire camps, including Devil’s Garden, due to budget constraints.

(Sacramento, CA) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after a State Superior Court tentatively ruled in favor of Assemblyman James Gallagher (R-Yuba City) and Assemblyman Kevin Kiley (R-Rocklin) and their lawsuit against Governor Gavin Newsom’s abuse of power. In the ruling, the Judge placed a permanent injunction against the Governor, preventing him from unilaterally making or changing state law during the remainder of his administration. Additionally, the Judge declared the Governor’s recent Executive Order that makes changes to the state election process unconstitutional.
