LaMalfa Supports Reimbursement Package for National Guard, Capitol Police

July 30, 2021

(Washington, DC) Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after voting in favor of a $2.1 billion emergency funding bill to reimburse the National Guard and Capitol Police.

"Every day the U.S. Capitol Police works to protect staff, Members, and the great symbol of our Republic itself. In California, we see the U.S. and California National Guard fighting wildfires and assisting with emergency response every time they are called," LaMalfa said. "It's appropriate and necessary to provide for and treat well our personnel that protect our Capitol, our visitors and us."

Congressman LaMalfa joined 68 bipartisan Members of Congress in sending a letter to Congressional leaders on June 30, 2021 to reimburse the National Guard. Without this reimbursement, the National Guard had planned to shut down annual trainings, drills, individual schools and operations on Sunday, August 1, 2021.

Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
