LaMalfa Rejects Irresponsible Democrat Spending Priorities

July 30, 2021

(Washington, DC) Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after Democrats completed consideration of nine funding bills totaling $669 billion, an incredible 17% increase over last year.

"This week underlines what irresponsible spending looks like. Democrats are happy to give a 1000% funding increase to study the health impacts of climate change, but can't find enough money to boost U.S. Forest Service by even 5% while the West burns. The House won't even consider funding for our armed services or the southern border before shutting down for August and most of September," LaMalfa said. "With the national debt approaching $30 trillion and inflation on the rise, the House, which controls funding as set in the U.S. Constitution, should be focused on fiscal discipline and directly addressing the needs of our nations constituents, not Congress' political needs.
