(Washington, DC) — Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) Issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released $6,848,479 to health centers in California’s First Congressional District, including $703,685 to Mountain Valleys Health Centers, $772,760 to Western Sierra Medical Clinic, Inc., $532,670 to Shingletown Medical Center, $622,910 to Hill Country Community Clinic, $622,190 to Sierra Family Medical Clinic, Inc., $567,755 McCloud Healthcare Clinic, Inc., $717,530 to Northeastern Rural Health Clinics, $576,815 to Karuk Tribe, $625,790 to Greenville Rancheria, and $1,106,374 to Shasta Community Health Center. These grants were received after the enactment of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which authorized $1.32 billion in immediate additional funding for health centers nationwide to respond to coronavirus.

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) made the entire state of California eligible for Economic Injury Disaster Loans. When these loans were first announced, the SBA’s online application was not allowing small businesses in certain Northern California counties to apply, but the issue has since been fixed. Economic Injury Disaster Loans provide small businesses with working capital loans of up to $2 million that can provide vital economic support to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue due to the coronavirus. The loans may be used to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other bills that can’t be paid due to the disaster’s impact. The process to obtain an Economic Injury Disaster Loan is more streamlined than the standard 7(a) loan from the SBA so that businesses can receive the assistance as quickly as possible. (Washington, DC) — Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after sending a letter to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin requesting that the tax payment deadline extension to July 15, announced March 18th, be applied to tax filing as well. By unifying the date for both filing and payment, the Department of Treasury can reduce confusion and provide the American taxpayer with some additional relief. The letter also requested the Treasury to: • Coordinate with each state to align their tax deadlines with the Federal government in order to reduce complications that could arise due to differing deadlines; • Lift the payment extension limits on individuals and corporations, respectively; • Allow small businesses to withdraw from retirement accounts early without a penalty to provide them with additional money to stay open during this emergency.
