(Washington, D.C.) – Last night, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R – Richvale) voted for H.R. 23, the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act, to defund the Biden Administration’s plan to hire 87,000 new Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agents and block efforts to harass and target lower- and middle-income earners. The $80 billion designated to the IRS in the 2022 Inflation “Reduction” Act would effectively double the size and intrusiveness of the IRS, having them monitor every financial transaction down to $600.

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressmen Doug LaMalfa (R – Calif.) and Mike Thompson (D – Calif.) reintroduced their bill from last Congress to exempt thousands of fire victims who are receiving compensation from the Fire Victim Trust from having to pay federal income tax on their settlement money or attorney fees that are included in the settlement. Congressman LaMalfa originally submitted the legislation on January 3, 2023, but it could not be processed until the House elected a speaker, members were officially sworn in and the rules for the 118th Congress were adopted.

(Washington, D.C.) – A report released by C-SPAN found that Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) ranked fourth out of the entire U.S. House of Representatives in House Floor speeches, having spoken 126 days during the 117th Congress. (Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), was 1st at 147 days). Speeches can occur during bill debates, one minutes, five minutes, and other time slots.

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) announced his nomination of 13 Northern California residents as candidates to the United States Service Academies. The U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marines Academy each require a Congressional nomination in order to attend. The admissions process is highly competitive.

(Washington, D.C.) – Friday, December 19th, Congressman Doug LaMalfa’s (R-Richvale) bill to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 2141 Ferry Street in Anderson, California, as the "Norma Comnick Post Office Building" was signed into law. Congressman LaMalfa introduced H.R. 228 at the beginning of this congressional term, it received unanimous backing by the entire California Congressional delegation and passed the House in July 2022. It passed with unanimous consent in the Senate on December 6th.
