Washington, DC – Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) has announced the introduction of "The Child Protection Act of 2013" (HR1690, "Hazel's Law"), which he is cosponsoring with Rep. Juan Vargas (D-CA). This bipartisan legislation closes a loophole in statutes barring sex trafficking of a minor by removing a "knowledge of age" requirement.

Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today supported a measure authorizing construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry petroleum from Canada and the Northern United States as far South as Texas. The bill, HR 3, was passed by the Natural Resources Committee and will now be considered on the House floor.

Washington, DC – Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today voted in favor of the Full Faith and Credit Act, a measure he cosponsored to ensure that the government will never default on its debts. H.R. 290 requires the Treasury Department to continue making payments on the federal government's debt in the event of an impasse over future debt ceiling increases.

H.R. 1406 allows private sector workers the option of accumulating compensatory time, or "comp time," rather than receiving overtime cash wages.

Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today successfully passed an amendment to the federal Farm Bill which requires electronic fraud prevention measures and eliminates bonus pay for signing up new recipients. Specifically, the amendment requires the use of existing electronic databases to determine whether applicants are prohibited from receiving food stamp benefits.

Washington, DC – Late last night, Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) voted for the 2013 farm bill during a hearing of the House Agriculture Committee. The bill, H.R. 1947 eliminates direct subsidy payments, modernizes the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, institutes new fraud prevention measures and reduces spending by $40 billion.

Washington, DC – Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today voted in favor of H.R.45, a measure he co-sponsored to repeal Obamacare. This is the first opportunity for freshmen members in the 113th Congress to take a stand on the issue. The Affordable Care Act, a 2,801 page bill, passed in 2010 through a Democrat House and Senate and signed into law by President Obama on March 23, 2010.

Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today announced the passage of a floor amendment to the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (H.R. 624) sponsored by LaMalfa and Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers. H.R. 624 is intended to help the government combat the growing number of cyber attacks conducted by foreign governments and terrorist groups.
