Yesterday, Congressman LaMalfa and members of the California Delegation sent a letter to the President urging that he declare a Presidential Disaster Declaration of a Major Emergency for the Oroville Dam spillway incident that forced nearly 200,000 residents to evacuate from their homes. The federal disaster declaration directs the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide disaster relief efforts with 75% of the cost being funded by the federal government.

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 238, the Commodity End-User Relief Act, which erases unintended and excessive red tape that harms end-users, such as ranchers, farmers, manufacturers, and public utilities. The bill contains language authored by Congressman LaMalfa to protect public power ratepayers from cost increases by increasing the sources from which public power entities may purchase energy for future needs. The bill would benefit those who rely on public utilities in many Northern California communities including: Redding, Biggs, Shasta Lake, Susanville, Roseville, Sacramento and others.
