U.S. Chamber Presents Spirit of Enterprise Award and Hard Hat Award to Congressman LaMalfa

August 14, 2017

(Richvale, CA) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement upon receiving the national Spirit of Enterprise Award and the national Hard Hat Award on behalf of the US Chamber of Commerce, as well as the local Redding, Anderson and City of Shasta Lake Chambers of Commerce. These awards honor members of Congress for their commitment to pro-growth, pro-jobs policies during the second session of the 114th Congress.

LaMalfa said: "I am honored to receive this award on behalf of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as well as the local chambers here in the North State. As a small business owner myself, I understand the importance of promoting pro-growth economic policies that help create jobs. I'm proud to be recognized as a leader in this area, and I will continue to carry that momentum forward into the 115th Congress and beyond."

Thomas J. Donohue, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said: "Businesses of all shapes and sizes need sound, commonsense policy in place in order to get off the ground, grow, and succeed. The Spirit of Enterprise Award recognizes those members of Congress who have done what's right for our friends, family, and neighbors running businesses across the country. We applaud these members for their commitment to free enterprise and economic growth."

Jake Mangas, President and CEO of the Redding Chamber of Commerce said: "The Redding Chamber of Commerce is proud to present this ‘Spirit of Enterprise Award' on behalf of the US Chamber. The business community faces constant pressures at all levels of government. This is a recognition that Congressman Doug LaMalfa understands that his decision-making on legislation related to business on the federal level eventually has an effect on the local level. His voting record over the past year was 100% in lock-step with a pro-business point of view."

The Spirit of Enterprise Award and the Hard Hat Award are given annually to members of Congress based on their votes on a selection of bills that are deemed critical to the more than 3 million businesses the U.S. Chamber of Commerce represents. Members who supported the Chamber's position on at least 70 percent of those votes qualify to receive the Spirit of Enterprise Award, while members who scored 100% receive the Hard Hat Award. Congressman LaMalfa scored a perfect 100 percent in 2016.

Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
