Rep. LaMalfa Visits Chico School, Chico State
Congressman Delivers Books from Library of Congress
Washington, DC – Redding, CA – Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today visited the Emma Wilson School in Chico and met with government students at Chico State University. LaMalfa delivered books and pocket Constitutions to the Emma Wilson School to recognize National Reading Month and also answered questions about a number of issues facing the area. Approximately 20,000 items are donated to the Library of Congress each day, and those not added to the permanent collection are released to be donated to schools around the nation.
“I enjoyed catching up with our students, especially having attended local schools myself,” said LaMalfa “They asked some great questions about the Library of Congress, the Lincoln Memorial and how Congress works.”
At Chico State, LaMalfa met with a group of American Government students who asked about the Congressman’s experiences as new member of the House and his views of our government system.
“I happen to know firsthand that Chico State graduates are top-notch, as several of my staff attended the university. The students I met with showed that they are ready to make a difference and I think California will be better for it,” the Congressman added.
