Washington, DC – Representative Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today commended William and Marian Ghidotti Early College High School in Grass Valley for being recognized by the U.S Department of Education as one of 335 schools honored as 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools.

“President Ronald Reagan established the National Blue Ribbon Schools program in 1982 to applaud schools with administrators, teachers, and students who have demonstrated academic excellence,” Rep. LaMalfa said. “I congratulate William and Marian Ghidotti High School of Grass Valley for this achievement. Thank you for setting the standard of excellence and representing the First District of California as one of just 34 California schools receive this distinction.”

The National Blue Ribbon Schools program was founded in 1982 to recognize K-12 public and private schools. Schools that receive this honor are recognized for their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Over the past 33 years, more than 7,500 schools have been recognized.
