Rep. LaMalfa Comments on Passage of Legislation Authorizing Keystone XL Project

Washington, DC – Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today released the following statement regarding the House passage of S. 1, a measure authorizing construction of the Keystone XL pipeline:

"After years of debate and discussion, today Congress sent a measure authorizing the Keystone XL project to the President's desk. Lawmakers of both parties agree that it's time for the President to stop obstructing the process and start working with Congress to strengthen our economy and increase energy independence. With bipartisan support in both the House and Senate, the Keystone project deserves the President's signature."

The bill was passed on a bipartisan 270-151 vote. The bill has passed in both the House and Senate and will now be considered by the President.

Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
