Rep. LaMalfa Announces USDA Rural Development Loan for Mayers Memorial Hospital District
Washington, D.C. – Representative Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today announced that Mayers Memorial Hospital District has been awarded a $21,805,000 rural development loan from the United States Department of Agriculture to construct a 9,000 square foot addition to replace the outdated and non-compliant portions of the existing facility.
"Access to healthcare services is already a significant challenge in rural areas, so ensuring our hospitals and doctors have the tools necessary to continue offering primary and emergency health services is absolutely critical. I commend Mayer's Memorial for earning this competitive loan which will help address the hospital's most urgent needs, including replacing emergency department facilities, acute care, and diagnostic services while making the facility compliant with California's seismic building codes," continued LaMalfa. "This funding will ensure the hospital can continue to provide quality and accessible health care services, while bringing more jobs and an economic boost to California's northeastern region."
LaMalfa, a longtime advocate of Mayers Memorial Hospital District, spoke on the House Floor to recognize the Hospital for their work in the North State and offer his congratulations. A video of his speech can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/embed/9NZzhhfhjQI&feature=youtu.be.
Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
