February 19, 2015

Richvale, CA – Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) announced the start of the 2015 Congressional Art Competition, encouraging all high school students in California's First District to participate. Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition that honors the talents and abilities of the nation's young people. Last year's winner, Jackie Scarry of Palo Cedro, CA, visited Washington, D.C. to attend a reception put on by the Congressional Institute for all the honorees of the competition.

"I am pleased to announce the start of the 2015 Congressional Art Competition," said LaMalfa. "Since the competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated. This year I am encouraging all high school students to exercise their artistic talent and participate for the chance to come see their artwork exhibited at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C."

All artwork must be submitted by April 27th to one of the District offices listed below. Please call to schedule a time for your artwork to be dropped off.
