LaMalfa Urges Barr, Becerra to Drop Reimbursement Claims
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) released the following statement about a letter he and a group of bipartisan colleagues recently wrote to U.S. Attorney General William Barr and California Attorney General Xavier Becerra urging the Federal and State governments to halt their reimbursement claims from wildfire victims’ settlement funds.
LaMalfa said: “The government sets aside money for disaster relief. The threat of reimbursement from Federal and State governments harms the victims’ capability of being able to recover and rebuild. These reimbursement claims for disaster response efforts should be immediately dropped.”
Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California’s First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
