LaMalfa Statement on House Passage of Continuing Resolution

September 19, 2025

Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 5371, the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2026, to fund the government through November 21st.

“Continuing resolutions are a lousy way to run a government, and we shouldn’t be using them to keep Democratic priorities on life support. This short-term extension is only a stopgap to keep the government functioning while we finish the appropriations process. Bills are finally moving through committee after years of gridlock, and this keeps that momentum alive.”

Congressman Doug LaMalfa is Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus and a lifelong farmer representing California’s First Congressional District, including Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama and Yuba Counties.
