LaMalfa Slams Democrats’ Partisan Impeachment Resolution
Oct 31, 2019
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after voting against H. Res. 660, a resolution to formalize Democrats’ impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
LaMalfa said: “From the day President Trump was elected, Democrats have been scheming to remove him from office by any means necessary – that should scare Americans more than any Halloween costume ever could. This process has been a total sham from the start. It has been conducted in secrecy and behind-closed-doors for five weeks – and now they want us to vote to legitimize it? I don’t think so. A vote to launch this inquiry should’ve taken place from the very beginning, not after weeks of partisan hearings and selective leaking of information to mislead the American people. Behind all of the smoke and mirrors, I still see no reason to impeach the President. During the Clinton and Nixon impeachment proceedings, both parties had equal say in the process. Now? Democrats maintain complete control. Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff have shattered due process and should be ashamed for conducting our nation’s first-ever fully partisan impeachment investigation.”
Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California’s First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
