LaMalfa Issues Statement after Release of New Tax Reform Legislation

November 2, 2017

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after the House Ways and Means Committee released the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The legislation will first go before the Ways and Means Committee, with a vote on the House floor expected in the following weeks.

LaMalfa said: "The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is fulfilling the promise that Congress has made to the American people to provide major tax relief after 31 years of inaction. That includes doubling the standard deduction, lowering the corporate tax rate, and cutting taxes for small businesses. This is about creating an environment where American businesses will be incentivized to return home from overseas, creating more jobs, and boosting the American economy. This plan will save money for millions of middle-income Americans and eliminate special interest loopholes. Contrary to some reports, this is actually a tax cut for everyone but the wealthy. A North State family making the median household income of $59,000 will receive a $1,182 tax cut – and that's just the beginning. I welcome all input on ways to further improve this legislation, but I support this bill and I look forward to its timely passage through committee and a vote on the House floor."
