September 21, 2020

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa issued the following statement after several cities and counties received grants through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. The funding can be used to support activities to prevent and control crime through law enforcement, drug prevention and education, community corrections, drug treatment and enforcement, and mental health programs. The grant awards are as follows:

  • $16,869 for Placer County
  • $32,686 for Shasta County
  • $10,387 for City of Red Bluff
  • $42,816 for City of Redding
  • $42,666 for City of Chico

LaMalfa said: "Local law enforcement works diligently daily to ensure public safety. They are the thin blue line that protects our society from violence, chaos, and mob rule. With local budgets spread thin this year, these timely federal grants will help them on their mission of keeping the peace within Northern California."
