LaMalfa Announces Grant Funding to Repair Roads Damaged by Oroville Dam Spillway Incident
February 12, 2019
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) announced $2,774,912.00 in grant funding to be awarded to the California Department of Transportation for repair of roads damaged as a result of the Oroville Dam spillway incident.
LaMalfa said: "Two years ago today, 188,000 people were evacuated as concerns grew that the Oroville Dam spillway might fail. Fortunately, that never happened, but the spillways and other infrastructure have been undergoing major repairs ever since. Throughout that process, the transport of heavy machinery and materials has damaged federal roads leading to the Dam. This grant funding announced by the DOT is another important piece to the puzzle of returning to normalcy and restoring all of our infrastructure surrounding the dam to its pre-disaster condition."
A summary of the grant announcement from the DOT is attached, here.
