LaMalfa Announces Grant Funding to Combat Sexual Assault in Red Bluff

September 20, 2018
(Richvale, CA) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ) Office of Violence Against Women announced $500,000 in grant funding will be awarded to Alternatives to Violence in Red Bluff, CA. The funding is part of the Rural Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking Program, which is designed to support organizations that help identify and respond to cases of sexual assault and expand services for sexual assault victims in rural communities.
LaMalfa said: "Rural communities typically have less crime-fighting resources that other areas of the country enjoy. This funding will help educate and train law enforcement and other support services to appropriately prevent and respond to cases of sexual assault, while also expanding services for victims, such as counseling and legal assistance. Combatting sexual violence in our area is critical and necessary, and this program will help in that battle here in the North State."
Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
