LaMalfa Announces Grant Funding to Combat Coronavirus
(Washington, DC) — Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued Community Development Block Grants to Chico, Paradise, and Redding, CA in the amounts of $512,416, $99,852, and $447,450 respectively. These grants were issued after the House passed the CARES Act on March 27th, 2020. Community Development Block Grants provide flexible funding to state and local governments for a range of services to address coronavirus impacts at the local level.
LaMalfa said: “After the signing of this bill into law just a few days ago, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development dispersed these Community Development Block Grants, demonstrating the Trump Administration’s commitment to getting aid to Americans as quickly as possible. These timely grants will provide Chico, Paradise, and Redding the needed working capital to address the individual needs of our constituents. One of the better accomplishments of the CARES Act was giving state and local governments the tools to take action within their own jurisdictions to stop the spread of this virus.”
