LaMalfa Announces FEMA Grant Funding for Paradise

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded $1,375,597.87 in grant funding to the Paradise Irrigation District as a result of damage incurred due to the Camp Fire.

LaMalfa said: "The Camp Fire absolutely devastated the town of Paradise, and recovery will be a long and difficult road. With much of the town's infrastructure destroyed or heavily damaged, we need to expedite the money and process to bring it back into operation again. I'm happy to announce this FEMA funding to assist with restoring Paradise's water system and bring safe drinking water back to residents. I'll continue working at the Federal level to secure additional resources to rebuild the infrastructure Paradise needs to recover, improve and thrive."

Kevin Phillips, Director of Paradise Irrigation District, said: "The District is extremely grateful for the handwork of Congressman LaMalfa. District will be able to use these funds to continue working on getting the water system up and running for the rebuilding of the Town of Paradise. The District is facing a monumental challenge to make sure the water is safe for all the residents of Paradise. We are going to need the continuous support from representatives in Washington."
