LaMalfa Announces Additional Grant Funding to Repair Roads Damaged by Oroville Dam Spillway Incident

May 1, 2019
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced $1,008,694.28 in grant funding to be awarded to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) for repair of roads damaged as a result of the Oroville Dam spillway incident in February of 2017.
LaMalfa said: "Following the Oroville Dam spillway incident, the spillway and surrounding area have undergone much repair and new construction. As a result, some of the access roads leading to the dam have been damaged by constant mileage of heavy machinery and trucks, as well as the transport of reconstruction materials. Today, the main spillway is operational once again, but much needed work is still to be done – that includes repairing these access roads and other infrastructure. I've heard from constituents who are very concerned about conditions of the roads, and this grant funding will help DWR move forward with that work as promised."
Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
