House Passes Budget and Paves the Way for Tax Reform
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after the House voted to concur with the Senate amendments to H.Con.Res. 71, which establishes a national budget and paves the way for tax reform.
LaMalfa said: "The budget that the House and Senate have now agreed to is about one thing, and that's paving the way for Congress to provide tax relief for millions of Americans. With the Ways and Means committee expected to unveil the tax cut bill soon, America is on the fast track to achieving the first major reform of our outdated tax code in decades. We're one step closer to eliminating special interest loopholes and creating an environment that is friendlier for both individuals and American small businesses."
The House passed H.Con.Res. 71 in early October, sending it to the Senate for consideration. After agreeing to the Senate amendments, passage of the Budget legislation in the House opens the door for tax reform in the coming weeks.
Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
