July 12, 2022

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, the House passed H.R. 228 to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 2141 Ferry Street in Anderson, California, as the "Norma Comnick Post Office Buidling". Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R – Richvale) introduced this bill at the beginning of this congressional term, and it received unanimous backing by the entire California Congressional delegation. The bill will now go to the Senate before it can be signed into law by President Biden.

Norma Comnick was a five term Mayor for the City of Anderson. She was first elected to the Anderson City Council in 1996, and served the public until her death in 2020. Norma was also involved in countless service clubs and organizations, including Anderson Rotary, where she was the first female member, the Sierra Cascade Logging show, the Redding Area Bus Authority, the Shasta Regional Transportation Authority, and the annual "Anderson Explodes!" 4th of July celebration. Norma was also a small business owner, owning and operating the Norma Comnick Insurance Agency until her retirement in 2004.

"Norma was a remarkable woman, dedicated public servant, and pillar in the City of Anderson. I knew her personally, as did several of my family members from her neighborhood in Anderson. Norma has left a lasting and invaluable mark on her city that is felt today by the citizens of Anderson. I am pleased that this post office dedication will honor her legacy of public service."

Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
