Farm Bill Passes through House Agriculture Committee
April 18, 2018
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after the House Agriculture Committee passed H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act, known as the Farm Bill.
LaMalfa said: "I'm happy we were able to take the next steps with the Farm Bill today and send it to the House floor. This bill contains many of the priorities that North State farmers and ranchers have been asking for since the last Farm Bill, as well as many common sense provisions that the majority of Americans agree with. I'm disappointed in the partisan squabbling by some of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle, but I am optimistic that we'll continue to work together on this issue in a bipartisan fashion, as we've done for the past three years. All of America benefits from this Farm Bill in the form of food price and supply stability, better conservation practices, and more. The sooner we get this done, the better."
Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
