Congressman LaMalfa Announces Funding for Corning Veterans Memorial Hall Rehabilitation

January 30, 2023

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R – Richvale) announced that he obtained $2,000,000 in federal funding for the Corning Veterans Memorial Hall Rehabilitation. This project will rehabilitate the Corning Veterans Memorial Hall, which was constructed in 1931, to ensure that the area's local veterans continue to have a meeting place and the general public has access to a common meeting point, providing full benefit to the entire town. Due to age, the facility has a number of structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and other defects which limits the use of the facility and threatens its continued operation. The work will also include restoration of walls, windows, and floors to their previous condition, as well as renovation to the building's kitchen and restrooms.

"Thanks to this funding, the Corning Veterans Memorial Hall will be available to be used by the entire town. The building has served the public for nearly a century, and it serves as a historical landmark as one of the oldest structures in the town. The project will ensure that Corning has disaster response facilities and needed space for all of the region's events," said Congressman LaMalfa.

Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama and Yuba Counties.
