LaMalfa Responds to Supreme Court Decision in King vs. Burwell

Washington, DC - Representative Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today released the following statement in response the Supreme Court's decision in King vs. Burwell:

"I am deeply disappointed in the Supreme Court's decision to uphold Obamacare's subsidies in states that chose not to set up their own exchange. We are a nation of laws, where every citizen is expected to abide the laws as written, not by the assumed intent of lawmakers. It's unfortunate the Court shirked in its duty to hold the President accountable to the exact legislation he signed into law, which clearly states that individuals can only receive health care subsidies through an exchange established by the state.

However, no amount of rewriting will solve the disastrous impacts Obamacare is having on our patients, doctors, and small businesses nationwide. I will continue working to advance solutions that give the American people health care system they deserve, not one that leaves them burdened with expensive premiums and subpar care."
