Rep. LaMalfa Comments President Obama’s $3.77 Trillion Budget

April 12, 2013

Washington, DC – Redding, CA – Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today issued the following comment on President Obama’s FY 2014 Budget released today, over two months late:

I was disappointed by President Obama’s proposal for the American people. His budget, despite raising taxes more than $1 trillion, will never balance and is filled with additional spending, increased taxes, and more bureaucracy,” said LaMalfa. “With unemployment at 8% and hundreds of thousands of Americans leaving the workforce every month, this plan doubles down on failure.

“Touring the Bureau of Public Debt yesterday, I saw government workers literally increasing the public debt as fast as possible, adding to the burden that our children and grandchildren will be forced to repay,” LaMalfa stated. “The President’s budget does not solve the unstable rate of borrowing and truly has something in it for everyone to hate.

House Republicans passed a balanced budget that will foster a healthier economy, eliminate spending by defunding the President’s health care takeover, reduce bureaucracy, and protect defense funding,” added LaMalfa. ”I was proud to support a budget that makes responsible reductions to spending and will lessen the burden we place on future generations.”

“I am hopeful in the coming weeks we will have an opportunity to work to balance a budget and reign in spending.”
