LaMalfa Says H.R. 6 will Make Illegal Immigration Problem Worse

June 4, 2019
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 6, which would not address the growing illegal immigration crisis at the Southern border and, instead, would provide mass amnesty for millions of people and incentivize illegal immigration.
LaMalfa said: "With America's immigration crisis seemingly escalating by the day, H.R. 6 would only make things even worse. It spends $35 billion on amnesty for millions of people here illegally and $0 on strengthening border security. This applies to far more than just DACA recipients and gives illegal immigrants pathways that aren't even available to those who come here legally. The end result would only further incentivize illegal immigration and encourage the human trafficking and exploitation of children that we're trying to stop. Customs and Border Protection are already being stretched beyond their reasonable capabilities, and we need to enact legislation that gives them the tools to more effectively do their jobs. The bill that passed the House today is a partisan show vote that ignores the very real crisis at our southern border and has no path to becoming law."
Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
