Press Release

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after the U.S. Military, at the direction of President Trump, took direct action against identified terrorists linked the the Iranian Regime. Two targets were killed in an air strike near Baghdad Airport that include U.S.-designated terrorist Iranian Quds Force General Qassem Soleimani and militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis. Both men were responsible for the planning and attack on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq earlier this week. General Soleimani is widely recognized as being responsible for the deaths of over 600 U.S. military personnel in Iraq.

LaMalfa said: “This terrorist was responsible for the deaths of over 600 American military personnel and has been removed. The President has proven he isn’t Jimmy Carter when it comes to Iran, nor the feckless Barack Obama, who even hosted one of the terrorists killed as a guest in the White House.

I hope this is a lesson for Iran, don’t attack embassies and don’t attack Americans. America will not be pushed around and threatened. For too long Presidents have pretended that Hezbollah, Quds militias and other terrorist groups were not acting as a proxy for Iran. President Trump is holding Iran responsible for the actions of its’ agents and removed military targets who attacked Americans.”

Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California’s First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
