Press Release

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after President Trump decertified the Iran Nuclear Deal while calling on Congress to pass new legislation to strengthen the deal.

LaMalfa said: “The previous Administration’s agreement with Iran was as one-sided as it gets. They lifted billions in sanctions, allowing Iran to finance their terrorist operations – and in return, they’re still fully capable of developing ballistic missiles today with the authority to have nuclear   weapons in a few short years. This agreement does nothing to protect the lives of American citizens and our allies, and I fully support the decision to revisit it. Iran must truly be held accountable for their dangerous behavior, and a poorly negotiated deal that is filled with concessions doesn’t accomplish that.”

Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California’s First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
