LaMalfa Issues Statement after Governor Brown Declares California a Sanctuary State
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after California Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation to protect illegal immigrants living in California, making it a sanctuary state.
LaMalfa said: “Many in the California Legislature seem to think that they already have executed CalExit. Alas, California in fact remains part of the United States. Governor Brown has no authority to ignore and violate federal immigration law, just as Arizona previously didn’t have the right to enforce immigration laws without the Federal Government. If this logic stands, can North State Counties simply vote to ignore Sacramento Democrats gas taxes and regulations? Today again shows how out of touch Sacramento is with the average American. Congress will address this issue.”
Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California’s First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
