LaMalfa: House Border Supplemental Puts Politics Over Solutions
Jun 26, 2019
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 3401, the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for Humanitarian Assistance and Security at the Southern Border Act, 2019.
LaMalfa said: “The partisan border supplemental passed last night by House Democrats falls well short of adequately addressing our growing humanitarian crisis at the southern border. This bill focuses on Democrat priorities that would hamstring the Administration’s ability to control the border, rather than actually providing funding to help improve safety and security for migrant families. We must give our personnel at the border the tools they need to protect America’s sovereignty while also providing humane treatment for individuals seeking asylum as well as those who’ve been apprehended while attempting to illegally cross into the United States. My Democrat colleagues do not appear to be serious about genuinely addressing this crisis and securing our border. Speaker Pelosi should allow a vote on the bipartisan Senate border supplemental bill instead of this partisan package that puts politics over solutions.”
