LaMalfa Comments on Conclusion of Mueller Investigation and Attorney General Barr Letter to Congress

March 25, 2019
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after Attorney General William Barr delivered a letter to Congress detailing the findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report.
LaMalfa said: "As I have said since the beginning, this investigation has been a political witch hunt, frankly ‘a bunch of crap'. As the letter to Congress states, there was no evidence linking the Trump Campaign, the President, or his family to any Russian collusion. Those who have pushed this known false narrative have purposefully hurt the country for their own partisan purposes. Every American should be ashamed of how the media and the unhappy Left wing have inflamed discord in an attempt to damage the President because their preferred candidate wasn't elected. They have in fact accomplished the very thing the Russians attempted to do in the 2016 election - to sow division amongst groups of Americans, undermining confidence in our election process among the American voters, and keeping the nation from uniting for the common good. I hope the American public will remember who the players were that perpetrated this false narrative for over two years and that their reputations, their now-tainted honor, and their credibility will always be treated as suspect. The rhetoric amongst the presidential challengers and others in response to the findings shows those trying to ruin the lives of those they oppose haven't learned a thing. I pray we as a people can once again pull together after this sad and vengeful episode in partisan personal destruction."
Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District, including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
