This bill prevents removal of federal dams without prior Congressional approval and keeps in place the operations plan for four dams in Washington State which have come under siege recently due to the issuance of a poorly-reasoned court order.

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after language from his legislation, H.R. 1873, the Electricity Reliability and Forest Protection Act, was signed into law last month as part of the overall spending agreement. The legislation provides streamlined processes for the removal of hazardous trees or other vegetative overgrowth within or adjacent to electricity infrastructure – such as power lines – on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and U.S. Forest Service lands, reducing the risk of forest fires and electrical grid blackouts.

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale), State Senator Jim Nielsen (R-Red Bluff), and State Assemblyman James Gallagher (R-Yuba City) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) recommended providing $33.3 million for water infrastructure projects in accordance with the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act – which was signed into law in December of 2016. DOI recommends the use of these funds to complete the decades-old feasibility study for Sites Reservoir, among other projects.

The State of California has requested FEMA to reimburse 75% of the estimated $870 million price tag, but in previous correspondence with Congress, FEMA has expressed ambiguity over whether it has the authority to fund these type of repairs.
