This biennial legislation authorizes water projects across the United States, and reforms programs within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works Office. (Washington, DC) — Congressman Doug LaMalfa issued the following statement after voting against H.R. 3884, the MORE Act, which would deschedule marijuana and fully legalize and commercialize a schedule 1 narcotic. This bill would also expunge convictions for numerous federal marijuana-related offenses, extend Small Business Administration loans to marijuana companies while other small businesses struggle, and establish a new 5% commercial cannabis tax to create a slush fund for grants to benefit individuals who have been convicted of federal drug crimes.

(Sacramento, CA) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa issued the following statement after Governor Gavin Newsom issued an a lockdown for regions in which the Governor deems have a “widespread” COVID-19 outbreak. Under the Governor’s order, the state will be divided into five regions: Greater Sacramento, San Joaquin Valley, Northern California, Bay Area, and Southern California. If a region has 85% of their ICU beds filled, the region must close for three weeks and until ICU capacity begins to trend down.
