(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman LaMalfa (R – Richvale) announced his final list of 15 community projects to be considered for federal priority spending. Last year, Congress created a new process called “Community Project Funding,” which allowed Members to submit funding requests for specific programs and projects based in their District. Project eligibility was also expanded this year to cover a wide variety of programs included but not limited to healthcare, public facilities, public safety measures, educational services, infrastructure, emergency operations, and small business projects.

(Auburn, CA.) – Today, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R – Richvale) announced that he secured a $580,000 Byrne Justice Assistance Grant through the Department of Justice for Placer County. The funds will be awarded for a Body-Worn Camera Program. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office will assign Body-Worn Cameras (BWC) to deputies in field operations and to correctional staff for use in both correctional facilities.

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R – Richvale) honored six fallen law enforcement officers from Northern California in recognition of National Police Week. Members of the House Republicans met at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial this morning to lay wreaths in honor of officers from their district who died in the line of duty.

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed H.R. 2499 – the Federal Firefighters Fairness Act of 2022. Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R – Richvale) was a principal cosponsor of this bipartisan legislation. This legislation would fix the current law that requires federal firefighters who are injured on the job or claim illness from toxic exposure to apply for the Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Program, specifying a single event which led to their ailment. This legislation would establish a list of health conditions and injuries that can be brought on by their line of work, and streamline the process of qualifying for workers compensation, disability, and retirement benefits.

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R – Richvale) announced the winner of the Spring 2022 Congressional Art Competition. Casey Lee Rhine, a Paradise resident and Sophomore at Core Butte High School, was awarded first place for their submission, “The Remains”, which is a symbol for the destruction of the 2018 Camp Fire. Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nation-wide high school visual art competition. The theme this year was "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. America's Open Roads and Open Skies".

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R – Richvale) voted to support Ukraine in their fight against their Russian invaders. The House of Representatives passed the bipartisan S. 3522, the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act, by an overwhelming majority. This legislation will enhance authority the United States has to enter agreements with the Ukraine government to lend or lease military artillery and defense supplies in order to protect Ukraine civilian populations from the ongoing Russian military invasion.

Paradise, CA. – Today, Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R – Richvale) announced a $2,270,156 FEMA Hazard Mitigation grant for the Town of Paradise. This grant will fund the installation of emergency early warning sirens to provide early detection and rapid notification of an impending wildfire for the Town’s residents.

Washington, D.C. – Today, the United States Department of Labor announced that the consumer price index (CPI) – which measures goods including gasoline, health care, groceries and rents – rose 8.5% in March from a year ago, the fastest pace since December 1981, when inflation hit 8.9%.
