Placer County Detective Honored on House Floor

Washington, DC – Rep. LaMalfa (R-CA) rose on the House Floor this afternoon to honor the life and sacrifice of Detective Michael Davis Jr, a peace officer who lost his life protecting his community.

A resident of Roseville and graduate of Butte College, Michael dedicated his life to public safety. He first came to the Placer County Sheriff's Offices as a reserve deputy in 1996, and then was hired as a police officer at the Auburn Police Department. In 1999 he began working for the department in many capacities including as an impact weapons instructor, an emergency driving instructor, an advisor to the Explorer Program, and as a homicide detective for the past 10 years.

On October 24th, 2014 during a horrific crime spree, Michael Davis Jr. was one of two Northern California Sheriff deputies, including Sacramento County Deputy Sheriff Danny Oliver, who lost their lives in the line of duty.

"This tragic loss is felt immensely by the people of Placer County, our whole state, and myself.I stand today beside his family, including his wife Jessica and their four children, in their time of sorrow and profound personal loss," stated Rep.LaMalfa. "May God give them strength, healing, and peace."
