For Immediate Release

Washington, DC – Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today released the following statement on the introduction of a bill by Senator Feinstein intended to address California's ongoing drought conditions:

"While this measure provides some increased flexibility within our existing water supply, it also needs to address our state's long-term water needs and include area of origin protections. The measure passed by the House last week meets those challenges by authorizing new surface storage and protecting existing water rights. Now that Senator Feinstein has also put forward a plan, we have an opportunity to negotiate a solution to address California's needs."

Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District including, Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
