LaMalfa Votes to Authorize Keystone Pipeline

November 14, 2014

Washington, DC – Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) today voted in favor of legislation that would authorize the construction, connection, operation, and maintenance of the Keystone XL pipeline. Despite the State Department's finding that the project had minimal environmental impacts, the project has yet to receive final approval by the Obama administration.

"Yet again the House has voted to expedite the construction of this pipeline, a project that is backed by the majority of the American people and which President Obama's own State Department found has minimal environmental impacts," said LaMalfa. "For over six years now, the President and Senate have failed to act on an opportunity to create thousands of American jobs, boost our economy, and tremendously strengthen domestic energy policy. It is time to end the politics and start building."

H.R. 5682 passed the House of Representatives today on a 252-161 vote and will be sent to the Senate.

Congressman Doug LaMalfa is a lifelong farmer representing California's First Congressional District including Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou and Tehama Counties.
